(AP) Rockford Register StarRestrictions sought on northwest Illinois mega dairy, “Lisa Madigan alleges a liquid byproduct used on-site leaked into the South Fork of the Apple River. She wants stricter environmental safeguards before allowing the dairy to operate. The proposed dairy has ignited an ongoing controversy in Jo Daviess County. The County Board has cast an advisory vote against it and opponents have sued to stop it because of concerns large manure ponds planned for the site will cause pollution.”

  • (AP) Chicago TribuneGun owners compared to Holocaust victims, “An Illinois state senator wants a gun advocacy group to apologize for comparing the treatment of gun owners to the plight of Holocaust victims.”
  • Bloomington PantagraphReform group sees problems at Illinois juvenile detention facility, “A prison reform group is criticizing one of the state’s juvenile detention facilities in southern Illinois for relying too heavily on solitary confinement to discipline youth.  The Illinois Youth Center in Harrisburg, a medium security facility for boys, used solitary confinement more than any other Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice facility…”
  • Belleville News DemocratVillage of Brooklyn accused of illegal dumping, “The village of Brooklyn allegedly dumped and burned a large pile of its customers’ trash in a vacant village-owned lot.  The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office filed an eight-count civil complaint against the village Tuesday for the illegal dumping at a property located at Eighth and Canal streets.”
